8-Apr-77 • Lofdal Easter Camp (8-11th)
30-Mar-78 • Lofdal Easter Camp
Lofdal (Afrikaans for “Praise Valley”) was the location for annual Easter Camp hosted by Northern Natal YFC and Dennis Drennan, and his associate Ronnie Francis. It was a venue we looked forward to going to each year. The Easter event, with around a hundred to two hundred participants, was much smaller than the annual National YFC Youth Week in January near Pretoria.
But not only was it more intimate, it was located on a river with a waterfall and was a great opportunity to relax and have fun, and to be nourished spiritually. we looked forward to going each year.

Theo recalls: It was at Lofdal that we first met Ronnie Francis. Steve and him hit it off. When we got back to Pretoria, Steve wanted to write him a letter but didn’t know his name because we all just knew him as “Johnny Tremendous” so he wrote the letter and addressed it to Johnny Tremendous in Cape Town YFC and somehow it reached Ronnie in Dundee Natal!
Les remembers: One of the tasks we had was to do a few sessions on music to the kids. I can recall Seph telling the keyboard class…”Now this is a keyboard. And you have black ones, and white ones, and there are more white ones than black ones. And mostly you play the white ones and sometimes the black ones!” We certainly had not yet perfected our instruments!
Seph: One of the unique aspects of a YFC camp was, the 15 minutes of observed silence after the morning and evening devotionals. The whole camp was in silence. We all found a spot and turned our hearts and ears to God. Lofdal had many inspiring places to sit and hear from God. Good memories!

Now let the fun begin!
