March 1976: The Formula1 Connection
Seph: The month of March 1976 started off with a Hatfield/New Life event at the Kyalami GP on the Friday night. This was a special event for me as I was still crazy about F1, having worked in the pits for the Frank Wlliams Iso-Marlboro Team in SAGP in ‘74. I had found out, that one of the drivers for the 77 GP, was Alex Ribeiro, A Christian from Brazil. I’d written to Alex months before the race and we set up a time to get together the Sunday before the race. Mac & Penny & Kim & I had lunch with Alex & his wife Barbara that Sunday (see Pic). Alex had “Jesus Saves” stickers on his car, so he asked me to get Afrikaans versions. I got one’s that said “Jesus Red”. I guess “Jesus Verlos” would have been better! “Jesus Red” sounded communist!

Subsequent to that, the red “Jesus Saves” stickers showed up on my Keyboards, and or foldback speakers.
